Indo-Invest Strategies is committed to promoting Indonesian
affairs before the United States Congress. The House Indonesian Caucus was established on February 12,
2004, by the United States Congress, in order to maintain and
strengthen the US—Indonesian relationship and to provide information
about the political, economic and security issues affecting the world's
fourth-most populous nation and third-largest democracy.

advocacy and promotion of business relations between Indonesia and the
United States.
GEOGRAPHY: Indonesia is an archipelago of 13,500
islands situated in South East Asia. It is situated strategically along
major sea lanes from the Indian Ocean to the Pacific Ocean.
POPULATION: Indonesia has a population of about 230 million.
ECONOMY: The nation has a mixed economy,
with emphasis on private enterprise and deregulation. Indonesia has
extensive natural wealth, and a large and rapidly increasing
population.
Agriculture, including forestry and fishing is an
important sector, accounting for almost 20% GDP and more than 50% of
the labor force.
The plantation crops, rubber and palm
oil and textiles and plywood, are fostered for both export and job
creation. Industrial output presently accounts for almost 40% GDP and
is based on the availability of diverse natural resources.
They include oil, tin, natural gas, nickel,
timber, bauxite, copper, fertile soils, coal, gold and silver. Of these
the oil sector dominates the exports.
